Pinoys are in for a free mobile web access.
Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook and the global initiative Internet.org, has partnered with Smart Communications to provide smartphone users in the Philippines to access key websites that will keep Filipinos informed and updated about the latest news, communicate with friends and family, and access healthcare concerns.
Internet.org, a non-profit organization, was launched by Zuckerberg in 2013 because he believes that “connectivity is a human right.”
Internet.org aims to provide, if not free, affordable access to select essential websites.
The Philippines is the 7th country that Zuckerberg partnered with for this global initiative. The six other countries are Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, Colombia, Ghana, and India.
Android users can now download the Internet.org app via Google Play. Unfortunately for iPhone users, we still have to wait.
Find out more about this by checking Internet.org in your phone’s web browser.
