June 26 will go down as one of the most remarkable days in history.

Seventy years ago – June 26, 1945 – 50 of the then 51  member-nations of the United Nations signed the Charter of the United Nations.

And this year, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) legalized same-sex marriage across all 50 states of the United States of America.

What a great day to finally realize – at least in the US – one of the stipulations in the Preamble of the Charter of UN that says: “to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small…”

Hooray for this big step to equality and respect for human rights and dignity.
